Michael Skrzynski, ANP
Michael Skrzynski obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Appalachian State University in 1981 and spent considerable time working in Asheville. Soon after, Michael chose to pursue a career in nursing as a means of combining his leadership and business experiences with a passion for healthcare. In 2000, Michael received an Associate degree in Nursing from Asheville-Buncombe Technical College, then received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University in 2005. In 2008, Michael received a Master of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University and became certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
Michael has 10 years of experience as a hospital nurse and uses his hospital experience to better treat and communicate with patients. He believes in the utility of patient-centric care, prioritizing patient education and active listening for holistic treatment. Michael's focus on patient support and individual treatment is essential to his comprehensive patient approach. Michael also has over five years of experience working with individuals with diabetes, thyroid disorders, and other endocrine conditions. Having experience as a Nurse Practitioner in community health and the Veterans Health Administration, Michael is proud to be a unique and compassionate member of the Mountain Diabetes.
A native of New York, Michael has lived in Asheville for over 30 years and enjoys the unique offerings of western North Carolina. In his free time, Michael enjoys traveling, both nationally and internationally. He is also an avid hiker and has a passion for gardening. We are excited to have Michael a part of both the MDEC clinic team and the research unit.
